Paddle and Saddle Trips

Go Big Sky big with whitewater and horseback riding in the same day!

Pack in More Fun with our Paddle and Saddle Adventure

Experience Big Sky Country from the Yellowstone river bottom to mountain heights

Imagine flowing down the Yellowstone river, digging your paddle deep into the water and feeling the tug of the water on your immersed foot as it swirls past. The bucking motion of the raft as it leaps through splashing waves. The fresh river scent filling your lungs as you view awe-inspiring scenery.

Now imagine you're gently swaying in the saddle far above the river. Watching rafts pass far below you, the scent of wildflowers puts a tang in the fresh air of the Absaroka Mountains. The clip-clop of hooves and burbling streams provides a soundtrack for the stunning panoramas around you.

Now imagine both of these amazing experiences happening in one day or back-to-back days (call to schedule), and you'll start to understand the magic behind our Paddle and Saddle trips.

You may want to bring a change of clothes for afterward and change in our changing rooms. Sunglasses and sunblock are recommended. the ranch does not provide rain gear.
What should I bring on the whitewater portion of the trip?
Please bring a water bottle on the raft if you want. Everything gets wet, so plan on leaving electronics in your car or hotel room. Our professional photographer takes photos of every whitewater adventure that you'll be able to view and/or buy at Yellowstone Raft Company's office immediately following your trip.

Do I need rafting experience?
Don't worry about it! We got you covered. Our friendly guides take a moment to teach you how to sit, paddle, and stay safe before departure. You're in good hands. Nervous? You can always request to sit in the middle.
What should I wear on the horseback riding portion?
Long pants and closed toed shoes are required. You will be riding at a higher elevation and through the wilderness so we do recommend taking a light jacket or sweatshirt with you. The Horseback Rides do go in the rain unless the Wranglers deem the trails are unsafe. You will need to bring your own rain gear, the ranch does not supply clothing of any type.
What should I bring on the Riding portion of the trip?
Each saddle has a small saddle bag for a water bottle, small camera or your jacket. Do not wear fanny packs or a large camera on your body, you could hurt yourself if you fell off the horse and onto one of these items. If you have concerns about bugs, you must put your bug spray before you leave for your ride or at your car. Do not spray bug spray around the horses.
Can small children do a Raft & Ride Adventure?
You can be inexperienced and ages 5 & older for express trip, 7 & older for full day trip, but each rider must be capable of riding their own horse. If you have questions or concerns, please call us at 888-722-6505. Helmets available on request.
Will I have time to change between rafting and riding?
Sure thing. We can even let you change into your cowboy duds or rafting gear at our office.
Do I need to know how to ride a horse?
Nah. Let us teach you the ropes before we hand you the reins. It won't take long and you'll enjoy your experience much more for it.

There is no weight limit and all abilities are welcome. If you any questions or concerns, please call us.
