The Yellowstone River

The Yellowstone River offers the opportunity to fish from a drift boat or raft; an option that you don’t have while fishing in the park. Flowing out of the park right here in Gardiner, the river continues north to Livingston, splitting the Absaroka and Gallatin Mountains, creating an area called Paradise Valley. Home to brown, rainbow, and the famous Yellowstone cutthroat trout, the Yellowstone River is known for great fishing and some of the best views in Montana.

A float trip enables the client(s) and their guide to cover more water, giving beginner anglers the chance at more fish. Experienced anglers alike are sure to enjoy all the dry fly fishing, wildlife, and scenery that the Yellowstone River has to offer. With a private boat launch in Gardiner, we are able to access the river upstream from most other fishing guides. This allows us to fish water with less pressure.

On the river, your guide will cover all the basics including casting, rigging, reading water, and fly selection; all the things you need to know to be more successful on your own. No matter your skill level, we are happy to accommodate any expectations you may have for your day.

Our experienced guides will pick you up at the raft office and take you to the river for a full day of fishing and instruction. Rods, flies, and lunch are included. Our anglers offer rental waders for $20 and boots for $10, keep in mind you may not need to rent these items during the warmer summer months.

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to trip time to get geared up. Plan for 8 hours round-trip.
